Charities and sponsorship

As a local business Story Group receives hundreds of requests for sponsorship and raffle prizes from many organisations, most of which are very deserving.

Unfortunately as our resources are limited we cannot assist every good cause. For various reasons we have chosen to support one local charity per year. Last year (2010/11) we raised funds for Eden Valley Hospice and this year (2011/12) Carlisle Mencap is our chosen charity.

Charity of the year

To be considered as the Story Group charity of the year, please submit a short written application (no more than 300 words) in support of your charity and send to the address below. We will make a decision regarding our charity of the year at the beginning of each year.

Sponsorship/donations/raffle prizes

Requests for sponsorship, donations or raffle prizes should be made by completing the Request Form. Please note that the majority of our fundraising is focused on one local charity per year which dramatically reduces the potential to help other causes.

Staff sponsorship scheme

As a rule Story Group try to support community groups/charitable organisations which are local to our area and to which our staff may have affiliations. We set up a 'safety scheme' in January 2008 whereby money accrued from safe working is given to local causes as suggested by employees. This is a well administered scheme and we actively encourage employees to make requests to this fund.

Requests must reach us at least four weeks before an event.

Due to the large volume of applications we receive we regret that we can only respond to successful applications and will not reveal the reasons for accepting or rejecting any application.
